The Daegu Dragons used a great performance from 19-year old right-handed pitcher Sugimoto Goto to beat the Busan Whales, 3-0, at Daegu Ballpark. The winning pitcher was Goto, now 6-6. He tossed 5.1 innings of 4-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 5. Earning his 12th save for Daegu was Mark Miller.

Tim Burch had a big solo home run for the Dragons in the bottom of the sixth inning. With Daegu leading 1-0 and the bases empty, he sized up a fastball from Sterling Campbell, who is tied for 3rd in the IBC in quality starts with 11, and punished it. The result was his 6th home run of the season, which put the Dragons on top, 2-0.

"Sugimoto did a heck of a job," said Daegu manager Ed Rush.

Daegu is now 22-38.
