The Neo-Tokyo Akira finished off the Yuma Arroyos, 9-3. Much of the credit belonged to designated hitter Eric Montoya. Montoya went 4-5 with 2 home runs and a double. He scored 4 times and drove in 4 for the Akira. Neo-Tokyo pitcher Jorge Salinas got the win, upping his record to 6-6. James McCoy got the loss. With the victory, the Akira record stands at 34-56.

An inflection point occurred with two out in the bottom of the third. That's when Akira third baseman Charlie Watts hit a curveball from James McCoy for a 2-run single. Just like that, Neo-Tokyo was up, 4-3.

"You've got to ride the highs and the lows in baseball in order to succeed," Watts told the Neo-Tokyo Times. "Right now I'm feeling good, but that don't mean squat for tomorrow."
