Sims Slugs Gom to 8-3 Win
|
In the 8-3 Gohueng win over Gimpo, the impact of Carlton Sims was substantial. Sims, who is tied for 6th in the IBC in RBI with 13, belted 3 home runs, while adding 8 RBI and scoring three times. José Durán got the win, improving to 2-1. He worked 6.2 innings, giving up 3 runs on 9 hits, while striking out 5 and walking 4. The 5th-place Gom bumped their record to 8-11.
Sims contributed a big hit, a grand slam home run, for Gohueng in the bottom of the fourth. With his team trailing 3-0, Sims took a sinker from Graeme Underhay and stroked the home run to left-center. His 4th home run of the season allowed the Gom to leap in front, 4-3.
"I just try to go out and give it 100 percent every game," Sims told a local reporter after the game. "That's my mantra, and like today, it will pay off more often than not."
