Gorillas Roll to 8-1 Win Over Shamans
|
The timely hitting of Kuemon Morimoto helped the Gimpo Gorillas down the Jeonju Shamans, 8-1. Morimoto went 1-1 with a home run and 3 walks, while scoring 3 times for the Gorillas. Justin Reagan, the winning pitcher, improved to 1-0. He pitched 7 innings, giving up 5 hits and 1 run, while striking out 7 and walking 0. Júlio Hernández closed it out for Gimpo, earning his 1st save.
Jorge Torres had a big grand slam home run for the Gorillas in the bottom of the eighth inning. With Gimpo leading 4-1 and the bases loaded, he got a fastball from 19-year old left-handed pitcher Shumei Ito and swatted a home run to left. It was his 1st home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Gorillas ahead, 8-1.
"Do what you're good at," said Gimpo manager Luis Mora. "That's all I ask of the team."
With the win, Gimpo lifts its record to 6-4.
