Zephyrs Lose to Badgers, 3-2
|
In a low-scoring affair between the Kalamazoo Badgers and the Reno Zephyrs, pitcher Martín Hernández was the difference between victory and defeat. The Kalamazoo right-hander earned accolades for his stellar performance in the 3-2 Badgers win. The winning pitcher was Hernández, now 12-9. He tossed 8 innings of 3-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 6. Kalamazoo now has a record of 80-73 with the win.
Kieran Herrera had a big solo home run for the Badgers in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Kalamazoo leading 2-0 and the bases empty, he sized up a slider from Carmelo Lamberti, who finished 4th in the SL in wins with 17 in 2038, and punished it. The result was his 16th home run of the season, which put the Badgers on top, 3-0.
Said losing manager António Morales: "Not taking anything away from them, but we swung the bats better than what it showed."
