Reds Defeat Corsairs, 5-4
|
The Jesuit HS Corsairs inaugurated their 2042 season with a tough 5-4 loss in 13 innings to the Mankato West HS Reds at Ballpark of Jesuit HS. Starting Pitcher Larry Neal had perhaps the best performance for Mankato West HS. Mankato West HS reliever James Miller picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Joe Parsons absorbed the loss.
Mankato West HS needed the clutch hitting of Chris Pope to seal the deal. The third baseman swatted a solo home run in the top of the 13th inning to put the Reds on top, 5-4. For the game, Pope had 1 home run and 1 single in 6 at-bats.
"To not win that game stings a little bit," said Jesuit HS manager Roberto Holguín.
