Sandgnats Sunk by Borealis
|
Getting an impressive start from Armando Batista, Aurora beat Crystal Lake by the score of 6-2. Batista, the winner, moves to 6-13. He threw 6 innings of 3-hit ball, while fanning 7 and giving up 2 walks. The first-place Borealis, at 90-60, lead the Sovereign League Desert Hills by 3 games.
Raúl Muñóz had a big 2-run double for the Borealis in the bottom of the third inning. With Aurora leading 2-1 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a changeup from Luppe van Dam, who finished 4th in the IL in strikeouts with 176 in 2029, and swatted a double to right. It was his 30th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Borealis ahead, 4-1.
In postgame remarks, Batista said: "To all who've been doubting my effort -- I hope they saw this game."
