Apollos Squelch Sandgnats Offense in Shutout Win
|
Tempe starter Man-chae Yi put the Crystal Lake offense in a vise grip. The left-hander relied heavily on his fastball in leading the Apollos to a 6-0 win. Yi, now 13-9, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 3 hits, while striking out 3, walking 3, and allowing no runs. By defeating Crystal Lake, the second-place Apollos improved to 85-63.
Eduardo Arellano had a big grand slam home run for the Apollos in the bottom of the third inning. With Tempe leading 2-0 and the bases loaded, he sized up a fastball from fireballing right-hander António Cuevas and punished it. The result was his 13th home run of the season, which put the Apollos on top, 6-0.
Arellano called it "a solid win."
