The London Underground wasted an impressive 6-inning effort from starter José Hernández, falling, 2-1, to the West Virginia Alleghenies at Pearson Metropolitan Park. Jim Hixson earned the win in relief. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 1.2 innings. He upped his record to 1-0. Christopher MacWhirter finished the game for West Virginia and earned his 22nd save.

West Virginia used a well-timed hit by Alfredo Guzmán to capture the win. The center fielder socked a run-scoring double in the top of the fourth inning to put the Alleghenies ahead, 1-0. Though it was his only hit in 3 at-bats, it was important.

In comments to the West Virginia Herald, Guzmán insisted that he's not as disinterested as it often appears. "Haters will hate," he added.

With the win, the Alleghenies have a record of 81-67.
