Jade Tigers Drop Arsenal, 6-5
|
The Gwangju Jade Tigers defeated the Kure Arsenal, 6-5, at Gwangju World Cup Stadium. Gwangju was led by 26-year old catcher Eric Black, who went 2 for 2 with a home run and 2 walks. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Naoaki Gato earned the win for Gwangju. He lasted 7 innings, allowing 4 runs on 5 hits, while striking out 7. With the win, he raised his record to 6-4. The triumph puts Gwangju at 55-45 for the season.
With Gwangju trailing 2-0 in the bottom of the first, Black hit a fastball from Enrique Gonzáles for a 3-run home run. It was his 8th home run of the season and put the Jade Tigers ahead, 3-2.
"I'm just happy to help the team win," Black told the Gwangju Gazette.
