Late Rally by Jade Tigers Locks Up 4-2 Win
|
The Kuwana Steel Dragons got a superb performance from pitcher Ernest Middleton, but the Gwangju Jade Tigers still won the game, 4-2. Middleton threw 5.1 innings of 3-hit ball. Juan Guerrero, 8-5, earned the win in relief. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2.2 innings. Alex Morris was credited with the save, his 10th in 11 tries.
Gwangju took a 4-2 lead on Félix Rúbio's 9th home run of the season. The 2-run home run, which Rúbio hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Kuwana pitcher Jimmy Campbell visibly frustrated.
Gwangju manager Tetsu Daikawa commended his team for exhibiting "no shortage of effort."
The win elevated the Jade Tigers to 52-41.
