Starting pitcher Gerard Scott gave the Kuwana Steel Dragons a rock-solid effort. The North Little Rock, Arkansas native helped his team defeat the Kure Arsenal, 3-2, at Steelfire Stadium. Lou Long closed it out for his 15th save. Kuwana has now won 3 straight, while the Arsenal have lost 3 in a row.
The Steel Dragons got a big at-bat from left fielder Jim Kenkyusham Jr.. For the game, Kenkyusham Jr. went 1 for 4 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the sixth, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 14th home run of the season gave Kuwana a 3-1 lead.
"I can't say enough about Gerard," said Kuwana manager Naosuke Horiuchi. "He stepped up when we needed him."
