Wardens Win, Suzuki 3-for-4
|
The exploits of shortstop Yoshitoshi Suzuki, who is tied for 10th in the TRI in home runs with 13, helped the Taipei Wardens defeat the Kure Arsenal, 7-2. Suzuki went 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. Doug Lewis picked up the win, improving his season record to 7-3. He struck out 4 in 6.1 innings. Taipei sits in 4th place in the Trinity at 35-38.
Taipei left fielder Kosho Mizuno contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the third. With two down, he hit a slider to center field for a 2-run single. It was his 56th hit of the season and put the Wardens ahead, 4-1.
"To get where we want to as a team, we all have to do things out of our comfort zone," Mizuno told the Taipei Bulletin.
