Vicente Cortéz, who is tied for 9th in the SL in complete games with 2, pitched well, but the Yuma Arroyos still fell short, losing, 4-3, to the Niihama-shi Ghosts at Salt Lick Stadium. Fernando Valdéz, the winner, improved to 6-7. He held the Arroyos to 2 runs on 5 hits over 5.1 innings, while striking out 3 and walking 3. Dan Wilson picked up the save, his 1st.

Niihama-shi used a clutch at-bat from Santiago Aranda to capture the win. The third baseman hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the third inning to put the Ghosts ahead, 3-0. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.

"I'm just out there trying to have as much fun as I can while I'm playing," Aranda told the Niihama-shi Herald.

The Ghosts raised their record to 51-34.
