Black Bears Deal Goths 8-1 Defeat
|
Starting pitcher Tom Lecain fulfilled his part of the bargain, helping the Chatham-Kent Canada Black Bears stymie the Windsor Canada Goths, 8-1. Lecain yielded 1 run over 5.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 5 hits, walked 3, and struck out 4. His record improves to 4-0. Chatham-Kent Canada, at 13-8, sits in first place in the Atlantic League Ontario Division.
Lucas Smith had a big 2-run triple for the Black Bears in the bottom of the third inning. With Chatham-Kent Canada leading 2-0 and runners on 1st and 3rd, he got a cutter from Dan Eassson, who is rated as the 85th best prospect by BNN, and swatted a triple to right-center. It was his 3rd triple of the season, and more importantly, it put the Black Bears ahead, 4-0.
"They just got us," said Windsor Canada manager Murray Harris, "and that's all I can say."
