Islanders Beat Mothra, 4-2
|
The Laval Islanders got a stellar effort from pitcher Gustavo Peñaflor, helping Laval score a win over the visiting Kumamoto Mothra, 4-2. Peñaflor picked up the win for Laval, going 7 innings. He gave up 2 runs on 4 hits. He now sports a record of 8-6. The Islanders now have a mark of 40-48.
Yoritoki Yamamoto had a big solo home run for the Islanders in the bottom of the third inning. With Laval leading 1-0 and the bases empty, he got a changeup from Huibert Kodde, who is tied for 4th in the PCAL in quality starts with 12, and swatted a home run to center. It was his 14th home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Islanders ahead, 2-0.
Yamamoto attributed the win to his team's "determination."
