In a low-scoring contest between the London Underground and the New Jersey Hitmen, António Trujillo, who is tied for 4th in the IL with a 0.98 WHIP, proved to be the difference. The London left-hander earned props for his performance in the 3-2 Underground win. The winner was Trujillo. He threw 5.1 innings allowing 2 runs. The loser was Gary Williamson. Earning his 8th save of the year was Cecil Langley.
London used a clutch at-bat from Toby Marriott to capture the win. The catcher hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the fifth inning to put the Underground ahead, 3-2. It was his lone hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
"Some wins are easy and some are difficult, but either way we come to the ballpark ready to work hard every day," Marriott told the London Citizen.
London has now won 3 straight, while the Hitmen have lost 3 in a row.
