Central HS catcher Shawn Thompson made his presence felt in the 5-2 Wildcats triumph over the James River HS Rapids. Thompson went 2-3 with a home run. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. Phil Robertson came out of the bullpen to earn the win. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2 innings. His record now stands at 3-0. The Wildcats now have a mark of 23-17.

Thompson contributed a big hit, a 2-run home run, for Central HS in the bottom of the second. With his team trailing 1-0, Thompson took a slider from Culley Compton and stroked the home run to left. His 11th home run of the season allowed the Wildcats to leap in front, 2-1.

"The most important thing is that we won," Thompson said.
