Katy HS pitcher Rafael Fernández did his part in helping his team defeat the Sarasota HS Sailors, 2-0. The opposition could never get too much going against the right-hander. With the win, Katy HS pushed its record to 20-20.

It could have been a different outcome for Katy HS, had it not been for Johnny Slater, the 15-year old first baseman . Slater contributed a run-scoring walk in the top of the ninth inning to put Katy HS up, 2-0.

"This level of focus will win us a lot of ballgames," Slater said after the game.
