Rallying Panthers Get 3-2 Win
The DeSoto Central HS Panthers topped the Katy HS Tigers, 3-2, with youngster Bill Gibson playing a key role. Gibson was 2-4 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 runs for the Panthers in the win. Jeremy Whittier, now 3-1, was credited with the win in 3 innings of relief. He allowed no runs on 1 hit, while striking out 3 and walking 0. Arturo Radríguez wrapped it up, recording his 14th save.

DeSoto Central HS used the timely hitting of Kent Maxwell to seize the win. The pinch hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Panthers on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.

"I like our moxie," said Panthers manager Gregg Rodgers.

DeSoto Central HS currently is in first place in the Eastern League Gulf Conference at 25-14.
