Ligers Collect 3-2 Win Versus South Caldwell HS
|
The South Caldwell HS Spartans got a sterling performance from first baseman Jimmy Smith, but the Blanchard HS Ligers still prevailed, 3-2. Smith was 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. Mark Randolph snagged the win in relief. The left-hander allowed 1 run on 3 hits over 3.1 innings. He's now 1-2 on the season. The save went to Don West, number 9 for him.
Blanchard HS used the timely hitting of Paco Alfaro to capture the win. The left fielder socked a 3-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Ligers ahead, 3-1. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a big one.
"We squandered some opportunities," said South Caldwell HS manager Heath Townsend.
Blanchard HS occupies third place in the Eastern League Deep South Conference at 19-15.
