Adams Shines in 10-8 James River HS Win
|
In a high-scoring contest between James River HS and Annapolis HS, left fielder Dave Adams was a difference-maker. Adams, who is tied for 7th in the EL in RBI with 26, distinguished himself in the 10-8 James River HS win. He hit 2 home runs. He drove in 4 runs and scored twice. Pablo Torrez, credited with the win in relief, is now 2-0. He allowed 3 runs on 4 hits in 1.2 innings. Picking up the save was 18-year old right-handed pitcher Valentín Mejía.
James River HS took the lead, 10-6, on Alden Griffin's 3rd home run of the season. The grand slam home run came off Annapolis HS pitcher Ken Glass in the top of the eighth.
"The name of the game is scoring runs," Griffin said. "We did a good job of that today."
James River HS, at 12-20, sits in last place in the Eastern League Atlantic Conference.
