Scott hits 2 home runs in Central HS Win
The Central HS Wildcats topped the Barbe HS Buccaneers, 9-4, with left fielder Don Scott playing a big role. Scott was 3 for 4 with 2 home runs and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice for the Wildcats in the win. Mark Whaley, who went 6 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 3 runs on 5 hits, while walking 1 and striking out 1. His record now stands at 1-0. Central HS, now 18-12, holds down first place in the Eastern League Deep South Conference.

Greg López had a big 2-run home run for the Wildcats in the bottom of the third inning. With Central HS leading 2-1 and a runner on 1st, he got a fastball from 17-year old left-handed pitcher Stanley Kerr and swatted a home run to left-center. It was his 3rd home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Wildcats ahead, 4-1.

Scott expressed little emotion after the game. "Every game we win now," he said, "is one less win we'll need to get in the end."
