Today was Carlos Hernández's turn in the rotation for the Sacramento Deltas and he made the most of it, shutting out the Long Beach Oilers on 2 hits.

The 25-year-old right-hander led the Deltas to an easy 8-0 victory, allowing 1 walk and tallying 6 strikeouts.

"I hope we miss him next time," Long Beach manager Gerardo Vargas said. "Hernández certainly pitched a strong game against us today. He was in a groove, throwing everything for strikes. Throwing hard. Changing speeds."
