Oilers Rally to Eke Out Win
|
The Long Beach Oilers, despite a fine performance by Sacramento pitcher Carlos Hernández, grabbed a 3-2 win in 12 innings at Ballpark of Queens. Hernández allowed 1 run over 9 innings. Senzo Matsuo snagged the win in relief. The right-hander allowed 1 run on 1 hit over 4 innings. He's now 3-6 on the season. The win puts Long Beach at 53-83.
The Oilers got a clutch hit from center fielder Israel Torrado. In the bottom of the 12th, he delivered a run-scoring single to win the game for the Oilers.
"Baseball is such a beautiful game," said Torrado. "Anything can happen on any night, and that's why you don't dwell on what happened yesterday. Just look forward and trust you're going to have positive results."
