Long Beach Loses Again, 8-3
|
The Boise Remuda defeated the Long Beach Oilers, 8-3, at Boise Ballpark. Boise right fielder Bennie Dawson had a superb performance. He went 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. The slumping Oilers have dropped 6 in a row.
The Oilers had been locked in a 2-2 tie with the Remuda going into the bottom of the fifth inning. That changed quickly when the 21-year old left fielder Toshinobu Yamaguchi came to the plate. Yamaguchi hit a 2-run triple on a 2-1 cutter from Long Beach hurler Carlos Sánchez. It was Yamaguchi's 3rd triple of the year.
"It doesn't matter if you're 10 games over .500 or 10 games under, it feels good to win," Dawson told the Boise Times.
