Chinook Grind Out 2-1 Win
|
Kauffman Stadium was the site of a competitive game between the Boise Remuda and Portland Chinook.
Portland Chinook starter Ricardo Rico turned in a sparkling performance against the Boise Remuda, leading his team to a 2-1 win. In 6.1 innings, Rico surrendered 6 hits, while striking out 4 and walking 1. He allowed 1 run. Joe Hawkins was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 25 of 33 save opportunities.
Stephen Davis, who finished 2nd in the HUM in batting average with .296 in 2040, helped out the Portland cause in the bottom of the fourth inning with a run-scoring single. For the game, the third baseman went 2 for 4 with a double.
"You don't always need a lot of runs to win," said Davis. "Sometimes you need just one or two."
The win puts Portland at 70-58 this season.
