Canberra HS Mountaineers pitcher Nathan Burrows was in top form, leading his team past the Rockingham HS Settlers, 2-1. Burrows got the win, improving to 2-1. He gave up 3 hits and walked 2 over 6 innings. He allowed 1 run. Ben Warwick closed it out for his 5th save.
Allan Hynes had a big solo home run for the Mountaineers in the bottom of the sixth inning. With Canberra HS leading 1-0 and the bases empty, he sized up a fastball from 16-year old right-handed pitcher Zach Canavan and punished it. The result was his 4th home run of the season, which put the Mountaineers on top, 2-0.
"Nathan did a heck of a job," said Canberra HS manager Curtis Ash.
Today's win puts Canberra HS at 11-12, while Rockingham HS falls to 8-15.
