Fargo Stumbles Again, Falls, 4-1, to Niihama-shi
|
Starting pitcher Connor Leith was a major factor in the 4-1 Niihama-shi Ghosts triumph over the Fargo Dinosaurs. Leith, now 5-3, was the winner. In 8 innings, he gave up 8 hits, while striking out 6, walking 0, and allowing 1 run. Earning his 19th save for Niihama-shi was Curt Merrill.
Niihama-shi used the timely hitting of Esteban Rodríguez to seize the win. The second baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Ghosts on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"We need to focus on the fundamentals," said Fargo manager Cristóbal Gabriel.
The win puts the Ghosts at 43-31, while the Dinosaurs drop to 34-40.
