The Benedictine Prep HS Infantrymen faced a tough opponent in Cy-Fair HS pitcher Pete Gary, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Cy-Fair HS Grounds by a final score of 7-1. Gary went 5.1 innings and allowed no runs. David Terry, the winner, is now 2-1. He struck out 3 and walked 0 over 6.2 innings, while allowing 1 run on 6 hits. The loss makes Cy-Fair HS 17-12.
Benedictine Prep HS used a clutch at-bat from Morgan Sparks to capture the win. The left fielder hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the second inning to put the Infantrymen ahead, 3-1. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
"Very pleased with the effort on our side," said Sparks.
