The DeSoto Central HS Panthers had to overcome a big game from Mobile Christian HS designated hitter Dave Alston to leave DeSoto Central Grounds with a victory. And they did, winning, 8-7, in 13 innings. Alston hit 2 home runs. He scored 3 runs and drove in 3. Reliever Jeremy Whittier picked up the win. His record improves to 2-0. Dustin Bailey took the loss. The 'W' lifts DeSoto Central HS's record to 17-10.

The decisive blow was delivered by Jonathan Hubbard in the bottom of the 13th when he hit a solo home run off 18-year old left-handed pitcher Dustin Bailey to win the game for DeSoto Central HS. The home crowd went nuts.

Hubbard described the clubhouse as "kind of rowdy" after the game.
