South Caldwell HS Defeated by Barbe HS, 2-1
|
The Barbe HS Buccaneers beat the South Caldwell HS Spartans, 2-1, at Ballpark of Barbe HS. Starting pitcher Santiago Flores was a big reason why. He held his opponent in check all game. With the win, Barbe HS has a record of 9-18. South Caldwell HS falls to 17-10.
Tied up with the Spartans in the bottom of the fifth inning, the Buccaneers got a boost from shortstop Kevin Alston. With the bases loaded, Alston saw a 2-0 fastball from Bob William and hit a run-scoring single to break the stalemate and put Barbe HS on top, 1-0.
"Tough loss," said South Caldwell HS manager Heath Townsend. "But we'll rebound from it."
