Union City HS and Blanchard HS got after it at Ligers Ballpark.

The Union City HS Hillers topped the Blanchard HS Ligers, 9-3, the lion's share of the credit going to shortstop Jorge Maldonado. On the day, Maldonado hit 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice for the Hillers. Union City HS pitcher David Pérez earned the win, hiking his record to 1-1. Jake Haney suffered the loss.

In the bottom of the seventh, Mitch Miller stood in the box, looking for a pitch to hammer. The Ligers were trailing 6-3, but had the bases loaded. That's when Mack Vinson made a terrific pitch and Miller struck out. Gone was the dream of a Blanchard HS comeback.

At 16-7, the Hillers are currently first in the Eastern League Atlantic Conference.
