Oilers Defeat Remuda, 3-1
|
Grady Pace brought his A-game to help Long Beach defeat the Boise Remuda, 3-1. In 5.1 innings, Pace surrendered 5 hits, while striking out 5 and walking 4. He allowed 1 run. Senzo Matsuo earned save number 28 this season.
With scoring opportunities rare, the Oilers had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the bottom of the fifth, when center fielder Carlos Peña hit a run-scoring single. The single came off Piero L'Archibudelli and made the score 2-1, Oilers. Peña went 1-3 with a walk.
Peña called the win "a team effort."
At 48-72, the Oilers are currently 5th in the Humboldt.
