Free Falling Bears Lose Again
Niihama-shi pitcher Orlando Ruíz did his part in helping his team beat the Bakersfield Bears, 8-2. The left-hander kept opposing batters from doing too much damage. Ruíz picked up the win for Niihama-shi, going 7.1 innings. He gave up 2 runs on 5 hits. He now sports a record of 3-2. The Bears, now 19-52, have lost 10 in a row.

Some sloppy defense hurt the Bears. In the bottom of the first, with Niihama-shi trailing 1-0, Vincente Gallardo was at the plate when Niihama-shi scored 2 on an error. The miscue enabled the Ghosts to go in front, 2-1.
