Wildcats Upend Bears, 3-1
|
The Central HS Wildcats picked up a win at Field of the Bears, downing the Winter Springs HS Bears, 3-1. On the mound for Central HS was right-hander Ernie Miller, who played a pivotal role in the win. In 6.1 innings, Miller surrendered 2 hits, while striking out 5 and walking 0. He allowed 1 run. Floyd Neely recorded the save, his 3rd.
Central HS used the hitting of Kyle Rankin to pick up the win. The second baseman clubbed a 3-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Wildcats on top, 3-0. For the game, Rankin had 1 home run and 2 singles in 4 at-bats.
"Credit where credit is due," said Rankin, "this was a team win."
Central HS occupies 4th place in the Eastern League Deep South Conference at 6-7.
