The Seton Hall Prep Pirates stopped the Benedictine Prep HS Infantrymen, 6-2, at Pirates Ballpark. The Pirates got a big game from Carlos Sánchez, who went 2 for 3 with a home run, a double, and was hit by a pitch. He scored 2 times. Dan Murphy snagged the win in relief. The right-hander allowed 2 runs on 4 hits over 2 innings. He's now 1-0 on the season. The Pirates now own a record of 6-9.
The Infantrymen had been locked in a 0-0 tie with the Pirates going into the bottom of the fifth inning. That changed quickly when the 16-year old first baseman Pete Robinson came to the plate. Robinson hit a 2-run double on a 2-1 cutter from Benedictine Prep HS hurler Don Rivera. It was Robinson's 5th double of the year.
Sánchez told a Seton Hall Prep Bulletin reporter that he was "very happy" with the win.
