Fading Rapids Lose 9th Straight
|
James River HS got a terrific game from center fielder Simon Butler. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to East Rutherford HS, 4-3. Butler went 1 for 2 with a home run and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Fernando Hernández earned the save for East Rutherford HS, his 1st of the year. James River HS's current losing streak has reached 9 games.
East Rutherford HS used a clutch hit from Dusty Nelson to get the win. The pinch hitter drilled a 2-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Cavaliers ahead, 4-3. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a doozy.
"We just can't get over the hump," said losing manager Matt Reyna.
