Lou Leads Alleghenies to 1-0 Win over Harpoon
|
The West Virginia Alleghenies and Hartford Harpoon put on a pitchers' duel.
Min-zhong Lou pitched a gem in leading West Virginia to a 1-0 victory over the Hartford Harpoon. The save went to Christopher MacWhirter, number 7 for him.
Lou, who has sometimes raised the ire of coaches and teammates with his famously lackadaisical work ethic, turned in a spirited effort. The hurler struck out 5 in 8 innings and gave up no runs.
Lou, who is tied for 5th in the IL in quality starts with 11, moves to 6-4 on the year with 63 strikeouts.
"Min-zhong gave us everything he had," said West Virginia manager Salvador González.
The first-place Alleghenies are now 39-32, the Harpoon 30-41.
