Spartans Post 4-2 Win
|
The performance of Vicente Castaneda proved critical in helping South Caldwell HS beat West Lauderdale HS, 4-2. The Spartans pinch hitter was 1-1 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Bob William, now 1-1, picked up the win in relief. He allowed 1 run on 2 hits in 3.1 innings. Picking up the save was Greg Williams, his 3rd.
Castaneda had a timely hit for South Caldwell HS in the top of the seventh. With South Caldwell HS trailing 2-1, he turned a 1-0 fastball into a 3-run home run. It was his 1st home run of the season, making it 4-2, South Caldwell HS.
Said South Caldwell HS manager Heath Townsend: "At the end of the day, these guys have to perform between the lines, and I think they did."
With the loss, West Lauderdale HS drops to 3-6.
