Opening day festivities have begun throughout the league. Fans of the Blanchard HS Ligers were eager to watch Stephen Malone square off against Eric Wells of the visiting Cy-Fair HS Bobcats. In the end, the Ligers won the game, 5-4, with Stephen Malone leading the way.
Right Fielder Andy Carpenter made an impact for Blanchard HS, when he swatted a 2-run home run off Eric Wells in the bottom of the second. For the contest, Carpenter was 1-3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once.
"We found a way to get it done," Carpenter said.
