The Central HS Wildcats launched their 2042 campaign with a victory over the Benedictine Prep HS Infantrymen at Wildcats Ballpark. Central HS left fielder Don Scott was instrumental in the 10-8 win. He hit 3 home runs. Floyd Neely collected his 1st save.

Phil Woodard had a big 3-run home run for the Wildcats in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Central HS trailing 5-4 and runners on 1st and 3rd, he got a fastball from Don Rivera and swatted a home run to right. It was his 1st home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Wildcats ahead, 7-5.

"We came out aggressive," said Wildcats manager Gabriel Castro. "We came out swinging the bats."
