The 2042 season is off to a good start for the DeSoto Central HS Panthers. The hometown Panthers dumped the Klein-Collins HS Hellcats, 5-3, at DeSoto Central Grounds. Ron Kelley spearheaded the win. He was 1 for 2 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once.

With DeSoto Central HS trailing 3-2 in the bottom of the fifth, Kelley hit a sinker from Derrick O'Melaghlin for a 3-run home run. It was his 1st home run of the season and put the Panthers ahead, 5-3.

"I don't feel you win baseball games by working harder than the other team or 'wanting it more,'" Kelley told the DeSoto Central HS Daily. "You win just by scoring more runs."
