Dragons Beaten, 2-0, by Travelers
|
The USC Travelers claimed a close win over the UAB Dragons, due in large part to Raúl Ordóñez. The USC right-hander pitched a great game to secure the 2-0 win. Ordóñez yielded no runs over 6 innings to notch the win. He scattered 5 hits, walked 2, and struck out 3. His record improves to 2-4. USC, with the win, is 17-38.
Randy Sanders had a big solo home run for the Travelers in the bottom of the sixth inning. With USC leading 1-0 and the bases empty, he sized up a fastball from 18-year old left-handed pitcher Roger Boswell and punished it. The result was his 8th home run of the season, which put the Travelers on top, 2-0.
"Nice to get this one," said Sanders. "We've been scuffling."
