Reyna Lifts Gringos to 8-3 Triumph
|
The game between Toa Baja and Trujillo Alto is in the books, despite a little rain.
The Toa Baja Gringos defeated the Trujillo Alto Maracas, 8-3. First Baseman Tony Reyna deserved a large share of the credit. Reyna was 3 for 4 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He scored 3 runs and drove in 2 for the Gringos. The winning pitcher was Ángel López. He tossed 99 pitches over 6 innings, allowing 3 runs on 8 hits.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Valentín Hernández? The Toa Baja center fielder had a run-scoring ground out in the top of the third inning to put the Gringos on top, 4-2. For the game, Hernández had 1 double and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"Getting a lot of baserunners and getting some timely hits, it's a good combination," said Hernández.
