Yuma starter Elio Polandi kept the Niihama-shi hitters in check, while his team cruised to a win, 9-2. In 6.2 innings, Polandi surrendered 5 hits, while striking out 7 and walking 4. He allowed 1 run. With the win over Niihama-shi, the Arroyos improved to 25-41.

A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. In the top of the sixth, with the game tied, Kinnojo Yano was at the plate when Yuma scored 1 on an error. The miscue enabled the Arroyos to go in front, 2-1.

"Elio made some big pitches when he needed to," said Arroyos manager Kiyohisa Takeda.
