Despite the rain, the fans at Ballpark of Puerto Plata enjoyed a good ballgame.
The Puerto Plata Playas Dorada did just enough to sneak past the San Cristobal Cajeros de Fortuna, 4-3, at Ballpark of Puerto Plata. Puerto Plata pitcher Marcos Vásquez, in particular, had a standout performance. Vásquez picked up the win for Puerto Plata, going 7.1 innings. He gave up 2 runs on 5 hits. He now sports a record of 3-0. Dani Salinas closed the game out for Puerto Plata, earning his 5th save.
The Playas Dorada got a big at-bat from third baseman Carlos Archuleta. For the game, Archuleta was 1-4 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the first, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 5th home run of the season gave Puerto Plata a 2-1 lead.
"Coulda, shoulda, woulda," said San Cristobal manager Edward Young. "We had our chances and didn't cash in."
The victory gives the Playas Dorada a record of 16-15.
