Bani Listless in 8-1 Loss
|
The game between Azua and Bani is in the books, despite a little rain.
The Azua Zafiros Blanco picked up a win at Depredadoras del Peravia Ballpark, defeating the Bani Depredadores del Peravia, 8-1. Starting pitcher Carlos Muñíz was an essential part of his team's success. Muñíz, now 1-0, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 3 hits, while striking out 5, walking 1, and allowing 1 run.
Azua used a well-timed hit by Francisco López to capture the win. The center fielder socked a run-scoring double in the top of the sixth inning to put the Zafiros Blanco ahead, 2-1. Though it was his only hit in 3 at-bats, it was important.
"Things kind of got away from us," said Bani skipper Ashley Roberts.
The win puts Azua at 2-3.
