The Madison Malts got a good effort from starter Mike Merritt in defeating the Neo-Tokyo Akira at The Malthouse. The final score was 7-2. The second-place Malts have won 5 in a row.

Louis Kossan, who finished 2nd in the IL in doubles with 35 in 2035, helped out the Madison cause in the bottom of the fourth inning with a run-scoring ground out. For the game, the third baseman drove in one run.

"My job is to throw quality pitches, go as deep as I can, and give us an opportunity," said Merritt.
