Bears Capture Close Win

The Bakersfield Bears picked up a win at The Oaks at Aera Field, taking down the Shin Seiki Evas, 5-4. Starting pitcher Andy Díaz was a big reason why. The winner in relief was Ánibal Gallegos. He is now 2-7. The right-hander allowed 1 run on 2 hits in 1.2 innings. José López earned the save for Bakersfield, his 20th of the year.
Bakersfield took a 5-4 lead on Katsumoto Ito's 19th home run of the season. The 2-run home run, which Ito hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Shin Seiki pitcher António Mata visibly frustrated.
"I just kind of blacked out and executed my pitches," said Díaz.
Bakersfield's record now stands at 55-83, placing them 5th in the Sovereign League Desert Hills.
